The CQ Press released its annual ranking of America’s most dangerous cities and St. Louis took top honors this year. The national study, which based it findings on population figures and crime data compiled by the FBI, found that St. Louis had 2,070.1 violent crimes per 100,000 residents. The national average is 429.4.
The figures were enough for “The Lou” to replace Camden, NJ which topped last year's list and was the most dangerous city for 2003 and 2004. With Camden 2nd on the 2010 list, Detroit, Flint, MI, and Oakland, CA, rounded out the top 5.
