Marc Jacobs and Yayoi Kusama - The Ideas

Louis Vuitton and Yayoi Kusama‘s very dotty collaboration has begun to arrive at a select LV stores in the past week, something designer Marc Jacobs sees as a exciting new venture for the luxury brand. Jacobs first met Kusama in 2006 and he immediately was attracted to her sculptures and paintings, noting that her “obsessive character and the innocence of her artwork touch me.” Now, as the LV Creative Director, Jacobs has a different, but equally inspired view of how Kusama’s work can reach new audiences and, ultimately, be a success for both parties. Teaming on a range of apparel, shoes, outerwear, and bags, customers of the French fashion house will soon find themselves toting and wearing bold polka dots offered in a series of sizes and colors. In this latest video, Jacobs describes what it was like working with Kusama touching on the inspiration behind key pieces and just how harmonious the work felt. Check out the video below and stay tuned for the official lookbook, which is sure to drop soon.
