Brooklyn creative agency, ApK launches "THE PROGRAM" a monthly hip-hop series held in Greenpoint, Brooklyn with first event to take place on Thursday, November 7th, 2013. Curated around a desire to pair an innovative creative agency with the buzz of hip-hop, ApK hopes to highlight the rising popularity of the scene. These intimate performance offer a place for music advocates to hear upcoming talent as well as popular hip-hop artists.
‘The Program’ will serve as an ongoing platform to showcase the newest, most exciting hip-hop talent alongside progressive brands and media outlets. ApK, widely regarded as source for clever and effective media, will be rolling out custom video content each month to highlight the performances and featured brand collaborations in an effort to provide the next wave of hip-hop with a consistent home in Greenpoint.
The first offering of ‘The Program’ features a strong batch of buzzing rappers, each of them making waves up and down the east coast- Headliner, Skyzoo, notorious for his Duck Down Records release, ‘The Salvation’ has previously toured with the likes of Ghostface Killah, Raekwon, Black Moon, and many more.Mr. Muthafuckin’ Exquire (Brooklyn)- Universal Republic artist who has made a name rapping alongside El-P, Gucci Mane, Killer Mike and more..., Kid Daytona (South Bronx) is well known throughout NYC and counts Busta Rhymes as a mentor. King Mez (North Carolina) has made a name opening for Pusha T and Fabolous this spring, and Zumo Kollie (Providence, RI) a rapper who has been featured on XXL and is presently represented by ApK. Each month audiences, live and online can look forward to dynamic line-ups’ and original content for each artist.
Each installment of ‘The Program’ draws on inspiration and success from original content and live events created by ApK in other genres. The ApK live music series, ‘Microshows’ quickly became an industry darling and received glowing press on Spin, AOL Music, Huffington Post and more... The ApK Instagram based, #SweatTheFeed campaign garnered over 150,000 likes in 4 weeks over the summer. The XXL Freestyle content for the class of 2013, was quickly championed by hip-hop media outlets and earned over 3 million views within weeks. ApK looks forward to drawing on these successes to create an undeniable buzz around ‘The Program’ and its’ custom hashtag- #FwithTHEPROGRAM
