To
celebrate the opening of WANT Apothecary’s in Rosedale, co-founders
Byron Peart, Dexter Peart, Mark Wiltzer and Jacqueline Gelber welcomed
Toronto’s tastemakers, along with international celebrities and
influencers as they gathered to toast the unveiling of the new boutique.
The guests, including actresses Sarah Rafferty and Meghan Markle, stars of the hit legal drama Suits,
famed fashion photographer Tommy Ton, the Beckerman sisters, Mikael
Schiller of ACNE, sipped on Champagne served in glass test tubes, a
playful nod to the store’s loosely-inspired 19th century pharmacy concept.
The stylish crowd mixed and mingled while exploring a curated selection of high-end clothing and accessories from WANT Les Essentiels de la Vie, Maison
Kitsuné, ACNE, Filippa K and Michel Vivien, among others. Guests were
delighted to discover a wide array of hard-to-find grooming products
from brands like Byredo Parfums, Aesop, Astier de Villatte, Stop The Water While Using Me!, and Ursa Major.
WANT Apothecary first opened in Montreal in 2011 with the inspiration to reinstall the essence of the intimate and neighborly retail experience of a Bygone era. The same trusted retail concept was recaptured for the Toronto location with the help of Toronto-based architectural firm Drew Mandel Architects and interior designer Maria Rosa di Ioia of Idea Design. Its inviting interior is both warm and airy and features herringbone wood floors, Bianco Carrara marble and brushed copper details.
WANT
Apothecary is now open at 1070 Yonge Street, Monday through Friday from
10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 12
p.m. to 5 p.m.
About WANT Holdings Inc.
Conceived
in 2006 out of a “want” for premium, quality leather goods to house the
“essential” professional and personal products for modern everyday
life, designers Dexter and Byron Peart, with co-founders Mark Wiltzer
and Jacqueline Gelber, challenge the status quo by offering stylish,
functional and affordable alternatives. Inspired by mid-century
architecture and design, WANT Les Essentiels de la Vie celebrates unity
through contrast and is at once classic and modern, masculine and
feminine, uptown and downtown. The WANT Apothecary, opened in 2011, and
WANT Passport, opened in September 2012, are unique retail concepts as
well as design destinations which feature the WANT Les Essentiels de la
Vie collections and highly-curated selection of international fashion
and design brands and are the culmination of the founders’ experience in
branding, production, creativity and commerce.
