The 15^th Annual imagineNATIVE returns October 22-26, 2014 with the most compelling and distinctive Indigenous works from around the globe featuring: 130 films and videos; nine Radio Works; seven multi-platform New Media works; four art exhibitions featuring 19 media artists; 11 industry panels and public workshops; and 17 commissions. imagineNATIVE will feature 175 artists representing over 70 distinct Indigenous nations from 12 countries.

Zoe Hopkins’s sound piece, Karenniyohston – Old Songs Made Good, fuses Mohawk oral language techniques and musical composition in her creative adaptations of national and cultural anthems of Canada, the United Kingdom and the USA.

Driven by a hot reggae soundtrack, the energetic and celebratory tone of this road movie is impossible to resist. Three Maori flatmates – all musicians – decide to form a band and embark on a pub tour “down north” to Cape Reinga in Aotearoa. At its heart The Pã Boys is a story about the bonds of friendship, a love of reggae music, and the importance of knowing where you come from.

Greenland’s history is not widely known. Perhaps less known – at least to those outside its stunning borders – is the rock band Sumé and their remarkable impact on the formation of contemporary Greenlandic identity, as the first band to record in the Greenlandic language. Sumé is an entertaining, enlightening documentary that explores the power of language and song in shaping the destiny of an ancient nation.
