Azealia Banks continues to defy all expectations. First, she unexpectedly released her highly anticipated debut album “Broke With Expensive Taste” in November and topped the global iTunes charts, reaching #1 in the U.S, U.K, and Canadian Hip Hop Album Charts and #3 in the overall U.S iTunes album charts (behind Taylor Swift and One Direction). The critically acclaimed “Broke With Expensive Taste” was also featured in numerous Best Of 2014’s lists including that of The New York Times, New York Post, TIME Magazine, Pitchfork, SPIN Magazine, COMPLEX, and Rolling Stone Magazine amongst others.

Then, she broke the internet with her no-holds-barred interview on Hot97 with esteemed hosts Ebro Darden and Peter Rosenberg back in December.

Now, the multi-talented, out-spoken 23-year-old has confirmed she will be the first ever rapper to appear on the cover of Playboy Magazine’s Music Issue this April.

The ten-page spread is due to hit stands on March 20th and was shot by the legendary photographer Ellen Von Unwerth (who also famously shot Drew Barrymore for her Playboy cover).

Azealia Banks will be joining a long line of female icons who have also graced the cover of Playboy Magazine, including Marilyn Monroe, Barbara Streisand, Kate Moss, Elle Macpherson, Mariah Carey, Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, Sharon Stone, Drew Barrymore, Grace Jones, Raquel Welsh, Lizzy Jagger, Chelsea Handler, Dolly Parton, Goldie Hawn, Joan Collins, and Sally Field to name a few.
