RED BULL SOUND SELECT PRESENTS: 

TORONTO FEATURING

FRIGS, BLUNT CHUNKS and LOWER DENS on MARCH 31

Red Bull Sound Select, an artist development program that delivers the best in new music, welcomes sludge pop band, Frigs, formerly known as Dirty Frigs, as its latest Toronto act. Frigs will perform their first Red Bull Sound Select Presents: Toronto showcase at the Silver Dollar on Thursday, March 31, 2016. 

Collaborating with local curators such as Arts & Crafts, Manifesto and Wavelength Music, Red Bull Sound Select Presents: Toronto features carefully crafted lineups that showcase top emerging local artists alongside noteworthy headliners. Frigs will open for fellow Red Bull Sound Select artist Blunt Chunks and indie pop quartet headliner Lower Dens. 

"It was late 2012, maybe early 2013 when I first saw Dirty Frigs. I watched a few songs and was sold right away," said Aaron Miller of Arts & Crafts. "Some acts just have it and they certainly do. I've done a bunch of shows with them since and they blow me away every time."

Over the last year, Frigs have been writing and recording new material in their rehearsal space and home studio in Corso Italia in Toronto. Collaborating with arts collective Heretical Objects Cooperative, Frigs have been focusing on the songwriting process and morphing their sound through multiple influences. 

Blunt Chunks, also selected by curators Arts & Crafts, has been a Red Bull Sound Select act for over a year and released her track "Mamma" in July 2015.

Additional Red Bull Sound Select Presents: Toronto acts include Jazz Cartier, The Darcys, Tre Mission and River Tiber. More artists will be featured in 2016 through monthly showcases, in-studio collaborations and music distribution. In addition to Toronto, events are currently hosted in 14 cities in the U.S. and New Zealand, each celebrating local Red Bull Sound Select artists curated by leading music influencers from across the country.
