Atlanta artist, Demo Taped
debuts new track, "Pack of Gum"
With a sound that is built around upbeat rhythms, soft vocals, and synth melodies combined with effortless electronic R&B textures, 19 year old Atlanta native, Demo Taped arrives today with a dreamy new track, "Pack of Gum" via Billboard.
"Pack of Gum" is another staggering
installment in the rising artists already impressive catalogue, which has
garnered over 7 million streams on Spotify, and seen him top the charts of the
HypeMachine several times, and garner attention from major outlets
including Complex, Noisey, NPR, Fader and Pigeons and Planes, who named him as
a Top 20 Artist Under 20.
Having openly spoken about his personal struggles with
depression and anxiety, Demo Taped aka Adam Alexander, explained to Billboard
how his new track also carries that theme. "It’s about not wanting
to be forgotten by someone you love. It’s called 'Pack of
Gum' because when my anxiety was at its peak, it affected me
physically. Sometimes I would get sick and so I resorted to carrying around
a pack of gum at all times."
The song follows the release of his acclaimed
single, "Insecure". An R&B track with a gospel redux,
"Insecure" was recorded in the church that his grandfather is
the pastor of that was started by former slaves during the Civil Rights
movement. His grandfather was close to Dr King and they marched together in
Atlanta. Adam's father plays bass on the song and features musicians
that play in the church that Adam grew up around.
Demo Taped's highly anticipated EP featuring
"Pack of Gum" and "Insecure" is expected to drop in early
2018 via 300 Entertainment.

+ Praise for Demo Taped +
"His velvety tenor floats over 8-bit Super
Mario synth flourishes, deep synth bass, and just enough swing to keep the
R&B vibes off-kilter.... The track aesthetically sounds like it belongs on
a baby-making playlist with its smooth, sultry edges, but it’s actually about
something much deeper and harder to process."
- Stereogum
“Demo Taped may be young, but he's an old hand when it comes
to bedroom studios. The Atlanta-based producer began his career crafting
bouncy, earnest demos that followed in the footsteps of electronic wizards like
Jai Paul.”
- Pigeons and Planes
“18-year-old artist Demo Taped has been on our radar for a
while, but his newest track, “Stay,” showcases a range of talent that’s almost
unbelievable. The smooth simplicity of what he’s asking (“Won’t you stay a
little while?“) layered over trilling synths is something that is rarely heard,
but fits perfectly when done the unique way Demo Taped does it. It’s both
heartbreaking and heartwarming, but it’s also everything in-between.”
- NYLON
"a wonderfully sweet synth-pop anti-anxiety
anthem"
- Noisey
