Montreal-based KQK debuts sexy androgynous Fall/Winter 2018 collection at Toronto Women’s Fashion Week
Montreal-based womenswear label KQK returned to the Toronto Women’s
Fashion Week (TWFW) runway with their Fall/Winter 2018 collection on
Wednesday, March 15, 2018. Notables expected to attend include Cindy
Sampson (Private Eyes), Natasha Negovanlis (Carmilla), Rachael
Ancheril (Wynonna Earp), Juno nominee Ammoye, Alicia
Dea, Jeanne Beker, Ainsley Kerr, Cory Lee (Giant
Little Ones), Melanie St. Pierre, Carly Stojsic, Glen
Baxter, and Barb Atkin.
The KQK FW18 collection has been created to empower the
wearer through an array of strong and dramatic silhouettes. In tones of black,
grey, and burnt orange with fabric interplay of leather, wool, and denim;
pieces convey a dark, gothic, and mysterious attitude. With feminine yet
androgynous looks, each KQK piece focuses on shape and construction; classic
tailoring mixed with sophisticated urban sensibilities. This is a brand which
is quickly making a name for its craftsmanship, creative detailing, and
architectural references.

“I've always described my designs as androgynous, creating more inclusive
fashion; allowing anyone to wear anything they feel comfortable and empowered
in.” says creative director Karen Quirion, “For
Fall/Winter 2018, I was looking for something more asserted in its direction;
more researched and refined in its detailing and construction, and also more
feminine and dramatic in its overall aesthetic. I also wanted to convey
strength and mystery with a dark colour palette of black, grey and a touch of
burnt orange; representing for me the intensity and passion of fire.”
The KQK customer has an independent mind; she is strong, affirmed,
decisive, and not afraid of the opinions of others. She is ambitious in her
life and career path and looks for clothes that will make her feel empowered
and confident. With an uncensored attitude and humble sophistication, the KQK
woman exudes mystery and defiance.
KQK retails for $100 to $800 and is available online through kqk.ca and at Cabinet Éphémère at Centre Rockland in
Montreal.
