CANADIAN TOBi EXPLORES EMOTIONAL PSYCHE IN SULTRY NEW SINGLE SWEET POISON
Nigerian-Canadian up-and-coming artist, TOBi released his 2nd single of 2019, “Sweet Poison” today on all platforms. Conceptually the song was inspired by Sigmund Freud’s repetition compulsion theory where a person endlessly repeats patterns of behavior that were difficult or distressing in earlier in life. From falling for the same kind of person to being excited by the danger of the unknown, TOBi re-lives a plethora of emotion similar to Freud’s theory. The sultry track is produced by Nate Smith & Nahum and will be featured on TOBi’s forthcoming studio album.
“Sometimes we’re drawn to a particular type of poison, consciously aware that it’s not good for us. In this song, I wanted to be open with my vices to show it’s a prominent part of the human experience,” says TOBi.
TOBi kicked off 2019 by premiering his debut single “City Blues” on Zane Lowe and video in Paper Magazine. The single received critical acclaim from Tiffany Haddish, Jamie Foxx and everyone’s favorite Uncle Snoop calling TOBi the voice of the culture and of the youth.
