Craig David Releases New Single and Announces Commitment UK Arena Tour
Craig David returns with his first new music in over 2 years, ‘In Your Hands’ via Believe. Out today, the uplifting track not only showcases Craig's distinctive vocals but also his ability to craft music that resonates on a deeply emotional level. The new single is the result of Craig spending the two years in the studio working on new materials and follows his Top 40 collaboration with Wes Nelson on ‘Abracadabra’ in February.
On the single Craig shares, “‘In Your Hands is such an important song for me as I wanted to shine a light on how truly special we all are. Especially when we allow our inner child to play, that part of us that holds the true meaning & joy to life." Reflecting on the creative process, Craig reveals that writing ‘In Your Hands’ was one of his most challenging experiences since his collaboration with Sting on ‘Rise & Fall’. He says, “It was so important for me to land each part of the song to honour the simple, yet powerful sentiment of the chorus.”
In keeping with the nostalgic lyrical themes of the track, the new video released today features Craig alongside a "younger" version of himself as he reflects on his childhood, with visual nods to his debut album, Born To Do It, and his journey to the present day. The video was directed by rising talent Lx (Greatcoat Films), who began his career as a photographer before getting his break at SBTV. Since then, Lx has produced videos and visuals for artists such as Stormzy, Dave, Knucks, and Central Cee.
On working on the video with Craig, Lx says: “Having grown up listening to Craig David getting to work alongside him feels like an incredible full circle moment. From paying homage to his 7 Days video through little Easter eggs to collaborating on the idea and coming up with a narrative following a younger version of him and his love for music - It’s been an honour to work with Craig and his team. We wanted to make this video vibrant, nostalgic and youthful. A young child discovering their favourite song that they can’t get enough of. Something we can all resonate with till this day.”
