Mon Coeur Hosts Kids’ Workshop with Fashion Squad School in Partnership with Christene Barberich

Mon Coeur, the sustainable children’s clothing brand, has partnered with Fashion Squad School to host an interactive fashion workshop for kids the afternoon of Saturday, May 17th in Tribeca. The event brought together families and kids aged 5–10 for a hands-on afternoon of celebrating creativity and sustainability in fashion. Parents in attendance included Aya Kanai, Yael Aflalo, Alyssa Shelasky, Estelle Bailey-Babenzien, among others.

Led by Project Runway alumni and Fashion Squad School founder Layana Aguilar, kids repurposed fabric strike-offs from Mon Coeur’s manufacturing process to create their own reusable tote bags while learning basic sewing and mending techniques. The afternoon also included a conversation with Co-Founder of Refinery29 Christene Barberich and Mon Coeur Founder, Louise Ulukaya, who spoke about the fashion industry’s environmental impact and how families can make small steps toward a more sustainable future.

“At Mon Coeur, we believe in a world where fashion doesn’t come at the cost of the environment.

We create children’s clothing made from upcycled, recycled, and sustainable materials, with love and responsibility at the core of every stitch. Our mission is to leave the Earth better than we found it—for you, and for every child’s future.

The fashion industry is one of the biggest polluters—using vast amounts of water, chemicals, and energy. But we have the power to change that through thoughtful design, conscious choices, and creative reuse. Every scrap of fabric has value—today’s “waste” can be tomorrow’s new creation.

We will be continuing this collaboration by donating all future strike-offs and textiles to the fashion squad school to continue their important work.” - Louise Ulukaya

As part of their ongoing partnership, Mon Coeur is donating all fabric strike offs to Fashion Squad School to be used in future classes and creative workshops. Together, the two brands are helping kids find joy in fashion, build confidence through self-expression, and learn how to care for the planet.
