Jewish Screen Office (JSO) Launches to Champion Inclusion and Representation Across Canada’s Film & TV Industries
A new industry-wide initiative, the Jewish Screen Office (JSO), has officially launched to support Jewish professionals and advocates working in Canada’s film, television and digital media sectors. Backed by a coalition of 500 industry professionals, the JSO aims to build a safer, more respectful, and more inclusive media landscape where Jewish voices are seen, understood, and fully supported.
The JSO emerges as a grassroots collective focused on advocacy, education, and community-building within the Canadian screen ecosystem. Its mission is to foster visibility and allyship for Jewish creators while equipping employers, HR teams, and production partners with the tools needed to address antisemitism, strengthen cultural competency, and adopt inclusive workplace practices.
“Jewish professionals across Canada’s creative industries deserve environments where they can thrive, both on-screen and behind the scenes,” said the organizers. “The JSO exists to make inclusion actionable, to amplify Jewish voices, and to ensure that our stories and perspectives are part of Canada’s narrative tapestry.”
Through outreach, strategic partnerships, and contribution from its broad network of film and TV professionals, the JSO aims to influence meaningful change in how Jewish experiences are understood, represented, and supported in Canada’s screen industries.
