Today's big Hollywood rumor is that Al Pacino and Joe Pesci are in talks to join Robert De Niro and director Martin Scorsese on "The Irishman," which, according to Deadline Hollywood, is a drama "based on the exploits of mob hitman Frank 'The Irishman' Sheeran as chronicled in the book 'I Heard You Paint Houses.'" Pacino and DeNiro both starred in "The Godfather II," but in completely different time periods and thus never in the same scene. In Michael Mann's "Heat," which was billed as the ultimate showdown between the two, they only shared one scene: a conversation in a diner. Scorsese, DeNiro, and Pesci, meanwhile, have of course already worked together in "Raging Bull," "Casino," and "Goodfellas." Scorsese is the executive producer and director of the pilot episode of "Boardwalk Empire," which premieres this Sunday on HBO.
