Medical Marijuana Legalized in Arizona

After months of debate, 2 weeks after the polls closed, multiple recounts, and an extremely close vote of 841,346 to 837,005, Proposition 203 passed in Arizona on Saturday, allowing it to join 14 other states in America that approve medical marijuana.
The proposition will allow up to 124 marijuana dispensaries to open in the state and operate under the regulation of the Arizona Department of Health Services. Patients with “chronic or debilitating” diseases that meet the department’s guidelines such as HIV/AIDS, hepatitis C, and cancer will be able to buy a maximum of 2-and-a-half ounces of marijuana every 2 weeks.
"Arizona's law now reflects the mainstream public opinion that seriously ill people should not be treated like criminals if marijuana can provide them relief, and that doctors should be able to recommend marijuana to patients if they believe it can help alleviate their suffering," Kampia said.
