Mouthwatering Food and Drink Trends to Keep an Eye Out For
The Gourmet Food & Wine Expo is back, celebrating its 23rd year

The world is coming to Toronto this November, as beer drinkers, food lovers, and wine connoisseurs come together to experience the best in each industry, at Canada’s biggest food and drink event.

“As creators of this fantastic show, we’re always on the lookout for the best new bites and beverages from across the world,” says Melanie Klie, Sales and Event Manager of the Gourmet Food & Wine Expo. “This year is all about those delectable cheeses, craft beer and homebrews, roses and sparkling toast, and innovative new whiskys.

Running from November 16-19 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, the Toronto staple will be back with more than 1,500 wines, beers, spirits and gourmet foods to experience. Journey around the globe with cooking pros, talk one-on-one with industry experts and taste the newest dishes, drinks and foodie trends everyone is raving about.
  • Cheese lovers are in luck at this year’s Gourmet Food & Wine Expo. Catch presentations by Switzerland Cheese all weekend long at the Chef State, as it will be the best place in Toronto to not only learn about cheese but taste it for yourself alongside Celebrity Maître Fromager Afrim Pristine.

  • Learn to pair your delectable cheese choices with delicious local and international wines from Charles Smith Wines, Creekside Estates, Rosewood Estates Winery, and Vieni Wines & Spirits. The remarkable growth of the sparkling wines and rose categories continues to show how these once ‘girly’ options, are now in demand for millennials and most importantly, men with #broseforbros

  • This year’s Expo will also feature samples of some of the best and most unique craft beers available, with a diverse range of breweries on tap such as Beau’s All-Natural Brewing Co., Lost Craft, Creemore Springs Brewery, and more. Find all the inspiration you’ll need to then master the art of homebrewing with PicoBrew. Get the inside scoop from the team, who have combined their food science and tech expertise with their passion for homebrewing to improve the craft beer brewing process right from your countertop.

  • Everyone loves the Caesar – but who makes it best? On Sunday November 19th, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. come see the top mixologists from across Canada square off in a live Caesar-making competition. Watch as the Mott's Clamato Best Caesar in Town regional finalists strut their Caesar stuff with unique garnishes, inventive spices and unexpected spirits in an effort to impress a panel of judges and take home the coveted Best Caesar in Town national title.
  • Spirits lovers won’t want to miss the Crown Royal Pavilion to learn why this brown spirit is experiencing a global renaissance. Whisky is now a top choice among millennials who are on the route to discover more flavourful and varied expressions, and women who have grown up in a time where whisky is no longer gender specific

“Our Expo offers guests the experience to learn from the true leaders and experts in the industry, whether it’s wine, beer, spirits, or food,” adds Melanie. “Beverage categories like whisky, craft beer homebrewing, and rosé, alongside delicious cheeses, are definitely a few to look out for at this year’s Gourmet Food & Wine Expo.”
