Companies like Zara and H&M have created entire seasons and billions of dollars off of recreating looks from the catwalk. Some argue that this negatively impacts designer brands and dilutes the exclusivity of the pieces. Others argue, that piracy drives fashion forward and if you look at any kind of art whether it be music, painting, or fashion--- recreations are everywhere.
MNML LA added men's denim to their repertoire yesterday by dropping two pairs of washed indigo denim as well as an unwashed black pair, both of which channel the look and detail of luxury denim. The brand took inspiration from some of the most coveted (and most expensive) men's designer denim. Their jeans, which closely mimic a popular luxury style, sold over 1,000 pairs in just 24hrs after their release. The jeans style and fit are nearly identical but the hardware and material differ along with their outstandingly low price offering at just $64.
Clearly, there is a need in the fashion industry and MNML LA is not afraid to step in and make it happen.
