SONGSTRESS CREATES TRIBUTE VIDEO HONOURING INTERRACIAL RELATIONSHIPS IN TIME FOR BLACK HISTORY MONTH AND VALENTINE’S DAY

Canadian neo-soul songstress, Claire Mortifee profiles real-life interracial couples in lyric video for her latest single “Panther Paws”.

With a previously dropped music video for “Panther Paws” in November 2017, the lyric video pays tribute to legalized interracial marriage, a theme familiar in the artist’s personal life.

Produced by Grammy-winning Canadian producer Chin Injeti, “Panther Paws”portrays an exploration of the love and challenges interracial couples continue to face in today’s society while showcasing real-life couples celebrating their interracial relationships.

The lyric video opens with a powerful statement: “50 years ago, interracial marriage was made legal by the U.S. supreme court” and is followed by real-life images and videos (submitted by Mortifee’s fans) celebrating the previous five decades of legalized love.

“I truly believe our differences are what bring strength to our communities,” comments Mortifee. “Two cultures or races (or individuals) each come with their own perspective and diversely cultivated set of skills and experiences. Panther Paws is a celebration of these unions and I am so grateful to the fans that submitted their beautiful stories for this video.”

Described by HYPE Magazine as “a modern pop star with the essence of love behind her music,” Mortifee has a fresh alternative R&B sound inspired by the likes of Frank Ocean, Amy Winehouse, SZA, and Erykah Badu.

Mortifee’s music has been making waves in both Canadian and U.S. markets with her vocal ability and magnetic presence.

“Panther Paws” is Mortifee’s third single release off of her album, “Medicines”.
