JPEGMAFIA RELEASES EP2!

Los Angeles-based rapper and producer JPEGMAFIA releases “PANIC ROOM!” co-produced by James Blake along with EP2!, a seven-song blast that further cements his place among rap's most forward-thinking and visionary artists – your favorite rappers' favorite rappers.

"FIX URSELF!,” the EP's first single, has taken off on all platforms, with high praise from Fader, Stereogum, DIY, and Reddit, and extended support on Spotify's POLLEN and Apple Music's Alt Rap playlists. The video, directed by Anthony Sylvester, encapsulates JPEGMAFIA's singular approach: open lyrically but somehow still inscrutable, melodically generous but never one to cloy.

The sound and attitude of rap are forever playing catch-up to Peggy's gnarled collage style of production, and EP2! is no different. JPEGMAFIA is best known for his overdriven and confrontational delivery, but this time out he dials it back and lets the words themselves do the heavy lifting. On records like "THIS ONES FOR US!" and "FEED HER!", Peggy doesn't attack so much as burrow into the music, a kaleidoscope of strings and synthesizers and unidentifiable noises. He's singing just barely over whisper volume, forcing you to lean in as he turns the personal into political and vice versa – from bouts of jealousy to the alt-right movement, from self-doubt to the surveillance state.
