Mach-Hommy Launches New Merch Line and Crowd-Sourcing Initiative To Support Newly Created Pray For Haiti Trust Fund

Just days after the arrival of his latest critically acclaimed album Pray For Haiti, rapper-turned-philanthropist Mach-Hommy has released a new line of merchandise that will further allow fans to support his recently created Pray For Haiti Trust Fund. The new line of sports apparel is now available exclusively at mach-hommy.com, with 25% of proceeds earmarked for the Trust Fund. As previously announced, 20% of all proceeds from the album masters will also go directly to the Pray For Haiti Trust Fund in perpetuity.

Like many Haitians living abroad, Mach-Hommy watched in frustration when millions of dollars pledged to large foreign non-profit organizations were squandered in the wake of the devastating 2010 earthquake that forever changed Port-au-Prince. While those events served to educate the masses about the bureaucracy that often gets in the way of the good to which donors think they are contributing; the repercussions for the people of Haiti were much greater. In recent years, those repercussions have been compounded by an increasingly deteriorating infrastructure, the result of ongoing political turmoil. And, as is often the case, the children of Haiti are suffering most. The Pray For Haiti Trust Fund is a vehicle of ongoing, sustainable change in the education sector that will allow the current generation of school-aged Haitian children to compete in a global market increasingly reliant on technology.

For Mach, the first step in creating this pathway to sustainable change is a fundraising goal of one million dollars; enough to program multiple initiatives over a significant period of time, thus achieving what he calls “remittance with a wider impact.” “Like many other developing countries, a huge portion of Haiti’s GDP comes from what they call remittance,” he explains. “Those are funds sent home by people in the diaspora to support relatives who are unemployed or underemployed and unable to find resources for economic support back home. The Pray For Haiti Trust Fund will not only follow that same concept on a much greater scale but also eliminate the need for people to rely so much on those overseas gifts.”

In addition to being funded by proceeds from Mach-Hommy’s latest and forthcoming projects, supporters can also make direct contributions to the Pray For Haiti Trust Fund via CashApp to the cashtag $PrayForHaitiFund, also accessible via this link: https://cash.app/$PrayforHaitiFund.

Mach-Hommy is currently fielding press requests to discuss the Pray For Haiti Trust Fund as well as Pray For Haiti the album, co-executive produced with Westside Gunn and available on all DSPs via Griselda Records.
