STUNNING SERPENT NECKLACE WORN BY FASHION ICON ACTRESS SARAH JESSICA PARKER TO HEAD TO AUCTION

An important necklace loaned to the actress Sarah Jessica Parker to wear to a film premiere in London, will be available to the public to purchase when it goes under the hammer at Dreweatts auctioneers later this month. Hailed as a fashion icon both in her role as Carrie Bradshaw in the films and TV series: Sex & the City, as well as in her private life, Sarah Jessica Parker fell in love with the necklace and chose to wear it to the Gala Premiere of the film Did You Hear About the Morgans in 2009, in which she played the leading role, alongside co-star Hugh Grant. The film premiere took place at the Odeon in London’s Leicester Square, where it proved to be a show-stopper when Sarah was captured in photographs that were published around the world. The striking opal diamond and emerald necklace, designed as a coiled serpent, perfectly complemented her fashion-forward pink strapless cocktail dress, designed by the late American model, fashion designer and stylist, L’Wren Scott.

The necklace is set with mainly opals, which as a stone has a wonderful reflective play of colour as the light hits it. It also features a pavé set old mine cut diamond head with graduated circular cabochon opal accents. The serpent is used as a popular motif, which symbolises transformation and creative force. Its’ eyes are set emeralds and its tail tip is in diamond. The graduated curved square panel links feature diamond set corners and are centred by a circular cabochon opal. Its swirling, coiled design allows it to sit beautifully on the neck, making it a truly elegant and unique piece. It is estimated to fetch £15,000-£20,000 when it is offered in Dreweatts Fine Jewellery, Silver Watches and Object of Vertu sale on March 22, 2023.
