BABY TATE FLOATS OVER BOUNCY AND IRRESISTIBLE NEW SINGLE “JERSEY”
Rising Atlanta star Baby Tate reminds us why she’s one of the most versatile artists out with the high-energy new single “Jersey.” Listen HERE via Warner Records. Inspired by the state's thriving club scene, the frenetic floorfiller documents the moment when you realize you got ghosted by someone who didn’t deserve you in the first place. In the accompanying video, Tate visits places from her childhood in Trenton, New Jersey, where she turns a pity party into a family affair with her Cousins, Aunties, Grandma, and her Mom strutting their stuff on the dancefloor at the club. Watch it BELOW.
“You told me this time around it was different, you ain't changed your strokes though," Baby Tate sings and raps over pulsing Jersey club beats. "Tried to sell me a vision, I see ghosts in your photo." While she reflected on the red flags of ghosting, it still hurts. “I’m in the middle of New Jersey, crying in the club," the hitmaker belts on the chorus. "Thinking about all the ways you hurt me, you don’t give a fuck.” It's empowering, relatable, and hugely danceable.
"Jersey" arrives on the heels of sizzling collaborations with MFS and Nonô — "Bow" and "ATM" respectively. Those tracks were preceded by Baby Tate’s reimagining of “Hey Mickey." Her original version, which first dropped in 2016 before going hyper-viral on TikTok earlier this year, has already amassed more than 100 million cumulative streams. She then followed it up with a remix featuring fellow rapper Saweetie.
On the heels of a dynamic and noteworthy AfroPunk performance, the Billboard 'Chart Breaker' continues to fuse pop, rap, and R&B since the release of her 2015 debut project, ROYGBIV, which she followed with 2019’s acclaimed GIRLS, 2021’s After the Rain, and her latest EP Mani/Pedi. When Baby Tate isn’t breaking the mold with her infectious tracks and fierce fashion, she’s collaborating with her contemporaries like LAYA on the genre-bending “Sailor Moon 2.0” and JID on the 21 Savage-assisted “Surround Sound” from his The Forever Story album.
