Keith Lee’s Inaugural “FamiLee Day” Festival Draws 20,000 Attendees to New Orleans
FamiLee Day, the inaugural festival created by TikTok food reviewer, entrepreneur and digital creator Keith Lee, took place at the UNO Lakefront Festival Grounds in New Orleans, Louisiana, and brought over 20,000 attendees together for a day centered around family, food, music, and community.
Known for his viral food reviews and influence in spotlighting small businesses across the country, Keith Lee launched FamiLee Day as an extension of his mission to highlight community, culture, and independent creators on a larger scale. A defining feature of the festival’s structure was Keith Lee’s decision to eliminate all vendor fees, allowing food and retail vendors to participate without the financial barriers typically associated with large-scale festivals. The first-year festival featured live performances, family activities, free carnival rides, and food and retail vendors from all over the country, many of whom sold out before the end of the event due to strong attendance and demand. Attendees had access to free attractions throughout the day, including a Ferris wheel, giant slide, and more.
Several beloved New Orleans restaurants and food vendors participated in the event, including Neyow’s Creole Cafe, Fantasy Tacos, Spicy Mango, Monday’s and more. Viral creator Mr. Tendernism was also on-site meeting fans and selling merchandise throughout the day. The festival was produced in partnership with Live Nation Urban, helping bring the large-scale vision of FamiLee Day to life.
One of the most emotional highlights of the night came during Kirk Franklin’s performance, which became a defining moment of the festival. During his set, Kirk Franklin became visibly emotional and cried on stage as the crowd sang along, creating a powerful shared moment across the festival grounds. The festival also featured a special New Orlans set dedicated to honoring local New Orleans artists and culture, including performances from La Reezy, Subtweet Shawn, Ha Sizzle, and Flagboy Giz. Additional performances throughout the night included Shamar, Big Freedia, Mannie Fresh, Andra Day, Gracie’s Corner, Fat Nwigwe, Tobe Nwigwe, DJ RBD, and Neace Robinson, DJ Arie Spears with a surprise appearance from New Orleans hip-hop legend Silkk The Shocker to close the night.
Tobe Nwigwe delivered a powerful and high-energy performance that stood out as one of the night’s most impactful sets. During his set, he also brought out his wife, Fat Nwigwe, for a special performance. Together the two further amplified the event’s message of family and community. Another major attraction was the FamiLee Day Family Obstacle Course, hosted live by KevOnStage, where families competed in front of thousands of attendees. The Larry Morrow family was named this year’s winning team following the competition.
Following the festival, Keith Lee took to social media to thank the thousands who came out to support the inaugural event, sharing an emotional message about what the moment meant to him. “This has been one of the most amazing experiences of my life, and I mean that from the bottom of my heart. I started this journey just to get comfortable in front of the camera, and my life has completely changed," said Keith. “Twenty thousand people showed up today and while I know there were some kinks along the way, I’m truly grateful for every single person who came out. Thank you to the city of New Orleans, every vendor, sponsor, performer, family member and everybody who played a part in this. This was the first year and from the bottom of my heart, thank y’all.”
In addition to the festival programming, Keith also hosted a special kickoff skate party at Airline Skate Center sponsored by Disney for kids and families, offering a free community event where attendees received Mickey ears and enjoyed an energetic opening celebration. The weekend continued with a Sunday morning run in partnership with Nike, creating another community-driven experience that blended movement, culture, and connection alongside the festival events.
