Amir Obè
brings an authentic and undeniable
sound to the ever-evolving Hip Hop scene. After parting ways with
Atlantic Records, and dropping the stage name given to him by the major
label, Amir gained complete creative control as an indie artist. Then
the Detroit native moved to Brooklyn where he spent
most days writing rhymes in the infamous Marcy projects, Detrooklyn
represents the sonic fusion of the two cities that influenced Amir’s
artistry- the mixtape will be available for free download on July 7th.
#DETROOKLYN Trailer:
In the trailer for
Detrooklyn, Amir sets an intense, relevant tone with
scenes of the 1967 Detroit riots, considered one of the most violent
urban rebellions in the 20th century. The visuals in the
trailer depict warfare and strife, at the same time the
music is soothing and draws you in as Amir inhales and exhales the
smoke that once fogged the city of Detroit. Amir notes, "My goal for
Detrooklyn was to place the listener in my perspective. There is
an atmosphere to every song, some being imaginative and others being
very real scenarios. This trailer gives you both sides, peace and
chaos."
Today, Complex.com premiered "Hennessy Breath" -a new single from the forthcoming mixtape,
Detrooklyn, produced by longtime collaborator and fellow Detroit
native, NYLZ. Acclaimed as a clever storyteller and a ladies man, Amir
Obè rhymes about moving his relationship to the next level with his
current girlfriend, even though she’s a city girl.
The visual for “Hennessy Breath” is in post-production and will be
released in the coming weeks.
