The Colors EP is Birthday Boy's first official release introducing the local producer's style. Birthday Boy’s EP slides between Funk, House, Neo-Soul and Hip Hop over the span of five infectious tracks. Live instrumentals and guest vocals serve as Colors backbone, best described as dance music with a hip-hop sound pallet. Birthday Boy will follow the EP closely by a string of remixes, new collaborations and an official music video.
Birthday Boy is part of a new wave of musicians fusing Neo-Soul, Hip Hop and Dance Music into a new genre that is both innovative and familiar. Having adopted this moniker in March 2014, the producer has already established himself as a force in Toronto's burgeoning beat scene. Birthday Boy's ability to move crowds in the notoriously standoffish Toronto nightlife is evident in his music, blending strong hip-hop influences with Funk and House. Having drawn heavy comparison to Montreal's Kaytranada, Birthday Boy will surely establish his own niche with this funky debut.
