The collection, consisting of wardrobe essentials designed by Smith for her first signature RVCA collection, encapsulates the spirit of creative subculture with a dash of collegiate charm. RVCA, founded in 2001 by PM Tenore, transcends the boundaries of traditional action sports apparel; the pulse of RVCA lives in the creative threads that run through and beyond skate and surf culture. For this collaboration, Ashley Smith--the newest RVCA Advocate--created a signature capsule collection to debut in conjunction with the brand’s core Fall / Winter 2014 collection. The pieces are direct lines to Smith’s personal style: a modern take on classic essentials, with a cool shred of nostalgic teen spirit.

RVCA’s aesthetic highlights the balance of opposites, an idea that speaks to 23-year-old Smith, who is known for her wide-gapped smile and sexy silhouette. For this collection, Smith drew from her younger days wearing punk rock tees with hardcore colored hair, memories ingrained that blend now with living as a model in fast-paced Manhattan.
