RIVAL SONS
HITS #1 ON ACTIVE ROCK RADIO CHARTS, ONLY INTERNATIONAL BAND TO REACH PLATEAU
WITHOUT BILLBOARD HOT 100 HIT
"Open My Eyes," the
acclaimed new song from Los Angeles-based Rival Sons (www.RivalSons.com) from their album
‘Great Western Valkyrie’ (Earache Records/eOne Music Canada), has made a
spectacular chart run, moving into the #1 position on the Active Rock Radio
Charts, and currently remains there for a 2nd week by a whopping 90 spins over
the nearest band.
The Jimmy
Page-approved and beloved Rival Sons made Canadian history in 2013 by becoming
the first non-Canadian band to hit #1 on the Rock Radio Charts without being on
the Billboard Hot 100 charts with “Keep On Swingin.’ Now, they’ve done it again
with their latest single “Open My Eyes”, the band movies from #2 to #1, selling
over 500 copies in the process. It is the 5th of 6th straight Top 20 hits
in Canada for the LA-based band so far, including 3 Top 5’s.
What's more, Rival
Sons are on their way to truly be a global sensation, selling out shows in the
us, UK and Canada, showing fans just why Classic Rock Magazine awarded their new
album a perfect 10 out of 10, only the third album in history to be awarded this
score.
Rival Sons released
‘Great Western Valkyrie’ on June 10, 2014, unleashing their freewheeling fuzz
and improvisational stage ethos that The Guardian calls "a vital force in
the modern age.” Rival Sons blues and soul rock is loaded with gritty
intricacies and a definite immediacy to their sound. The band often approaches
their music as if they were on a mission: forcing songs to stay awake and active
through instinctive and honest delivery. Rival Sons have drawn critical applause
from all corners, with Q Magazine calling them “A powerhouse of big riffed rock
'n' roll” with Kerrang! Proclaiming “They craft near-perfect garage-rock
songs to hang the thrills and frills from.”
Pitched somewhere
between the loose revivalism of Jack White and the garage rock of The Monks,
Rival Sons possess a chimera-like character: a rhythm section with blistering
groove, a garage-rock fuzzadelic guitar maestro, and a blues rooted soulful
singer with the powerful raw delivery of rock and the sensitivity of a Laurel
Canyon trip. Though rooted in the past Rival Sons play with awareness and
modernity like they're calling on inspiration through their roots anew,
filtering out more of rock's overblown past and bringing in call-and-response
testaments to truth - In their own words, they "want to give the people the rock
and roll they deserve by keeping it honest, visceral, and
dangerous."
Long acclaimed as a
captivating and creative live band, Rival Sons spent much of the past two years
performing in North America on back-to-back sold-out headline tours, the latter
of which included selling out their initial New York Show in a matter of
minutes, and selling out a stop at the Gramercy Theater in New York in addition
to several west coast dates.
