Standing tall as the premier forward thinkers in hip-hop, fashion and
beyond, the trifecta of Lupe Fiasco, Kanye West and Pharrell Williams
consistently show why they are
visionaries. Each of the them continue to push the limits of culture
into stellar dimensions, whether it be amazing albums, clothing lines or
thought-provoking commentary. Team 20/20 is pleased to
present the long awaited sequel, Rebel Music 2: Child Rebel Soldiers -
the mixtape collaboration featuring Kanye, Lupe and Pharrell.
Rebel Music 2: Child Rebel Soldiers pays homage to the b-boy culture
that paved the foundation for the project and presents over 60 minutes
of hip-hop as it was meant to be intended; funky. Using the triangle
offense of the CRS as a starting block, DJs Dub and Dub Floyd demolish
and rebuild original
joints from the trio, creating collaborations that make the hip-hop
purist all the way to the hipster bob their heads.
Both DJs are considerably accomplished in their own right: Dub is known
for his true school panache exhibited in tapes like Jay Electronica's
Victory and Dub Floyd has helmed projects like the comic series/tv show
Boondocks Hip Hop Docktrine mixtapes. When the two DJs combine forces,
this tape is
the end-product: a milestone in the legacy of great concept-driven
mixtapes.
Rebel Music 2: Child Rebel Soldiers features production from Kanye West,
Pharrell, Daft Punk, 9th Wonder, Black Milk, Rza, DJ Premier and
others. Featured guests on Rebel Music 2: Child Rebel Soldiers include
Nas, Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, Big Sean, 88 Keys, Kid Cudi, Alicia Keys, Mos
Def, Common,
Pusha T, Fabolous and more.
Team 20/20 has teamed up previously to create mixtapes like Sheek
Louch’s Animal Planet and Rebel Music. With this being their third
collaborative project, it only continues to show why both Dub and
Dub Floyd have not only been recognized by the streets but also the
industry and their peers. Both are multiple award nominees/winners,
stalwarts on their respective Radio outlets (Dub – Music Choice;
Dub Floyd – iTunes Radio) and are continuously dedicated to their craft.
With several other projects lined up for 2011, Team 20/20 are making
sure that their music is original, presentation is pristine and
that their vision is clear.
"Lupe is the child, I'm the Rebel and Kanye's the soldier...this is our
rebellion. When we rhyme together its fun to do...its like an ode to the
the kind of hip hop we love and want to make and wasn't about
money…its fun, its beautiful to be embraced.
- Pharell Willams
"Growing up on hip-hop crews like Juice Crew and Native Tongues, it was
only right to gravitate towards a conglomerate of MCs who bring that
same type of energy to the game. In today's current climate of microwave
rappers and imaginary players, CRS bring the same type of energy as
Tribe (Called Quest) and De La (Soul). This tape is an ode to those who
love that middle-school vibe, enjoy."
-DJ Dub
"The homie DJ Dub and I thought that a sequel for one of the most
creative yet critically acclaimed mixtapes was long overdue. If you've
heard the first Rebel Music, then you should know the route
we're taking with part two. If not, I suggest you give it a listen then
check out part two and be
prepared to have your mind blown. Our mission with part two was to take
it up a notch creatively all
while continuing to showcase three of today's hottest artists.... the
super group Child Rebel Soldiers
which consists of Kanye West, Pharrell Williams and Lupe Fiasco. Get
with this Rebel thing! Team
20/20 ‘The Vision Is Clear’! "
