INK Entertainment, Rap Season and Goldenvoice are
proud to present Earl Sweatshirt with special guests at an all-ages event at
The Opera House on Tuesday April 14th 2015.
Thebe Neruda
Kgositsile known to the world as Earl
Sweatshirt, is a prominent member of LA rap collective Odd Future. Discovered by OF leader, Tyler The Creator via
his MySpace account, Earl (then known as Sly Tendencies) joined Odd Future in
2009 and immediately started to gain attention for his graphic lyrics and
unique delivery.
Around the same time,
Odd Future was riding an incredible underground buzz due in part to Earl who
became known as the collective's "true rapper". He released his
shocking debut mix tape "Earl"
in 2010 and then promptly disappeared. It later came to light that Earl's
mother had shipped him to a to a boarding school in Samoa after hearing
the lyrics in his music.
After his 18th birthday,
Earl immediately returned to LA and began work on his highly anticipated debut
album, "Doris" which was
released in August of 2013. With guest features from Tyler, Frank Ocean, Mac
Miller, The Neptunes, BadBadNotGood, Pharrell Williams, Vince Staples and many
others, it cemented Earl as one of the shining stars of Odd Future despite his
lengthy and mysterious absence. The album was a critical and commercial success
debuting at #5 on the Billboard album chart.
Currently completing the
follow-up to "Doris" he
released the single "45"
(produced by The Alchemist) in November and most recently released the
single "Quest/Power" on
Valentine's Day. There has been no confirmed release date for the album
but Earl embarks on a national tour in support of the new record this
spring, which brings him to The Opera House in Toronto on April 14th.
