ZOE KRAVITZ Speaks on #INSURGENT, MAD MAX and LOLAWOLF w/ .@OceanDriveMag .@Divergent

Zoe Kravitz recently sat down with and shot with Ocean Drive Magazine to talk about her upcoming roles in THE DIVERGENT SERIES: INSURGENT and MAD MAX: FURY ROAD.  She also chatted with them about her band Lolawolf, what her parents think about her music and even touched on dating.  Check out the excerpts from the interview below as well as photos shot for Ocean Drive by Warwick Saint. Zoe on her character “Christina” in INSURGENT:
“[My character] Christina comes from the faction of Candor, which is all about honesty; I was really intrigued by that,” says Kravitz. “That’s why she’s kind of an open book—she’s feisty and she’s funny and she’s real—and those are the kind of people that I like to surround myself with, and I’m the same kind of person.”
However, those character traits are not without their downsides, says Kravitz, who admits that “sometimes you go too far, where you just put your foot in your mouth. I definitely struggle with that, so I identified with that part of her. I love the friendship between her and Tris. It’s so important to see females supporting each other, especially in films for younger people. My girlfriends have kept me sane over the years, so I think their friendship and their bond is really beautiful.”
Zoe on working with INSURGENT cast:
“It was one of those moments when you look around the room and think, Oh my god, I’m shooting a scene with Naomi Watts and Kate Winslet—that’s absolutely insane!” she marvels.

Zoe on working on MAD MAX: FURY ROAD:
“Aesthetically, it was the most beautiful, creative thing I have ever seen,” she recalls of the project, which came with a fair amount of frightening scenes. “It was really crazy and surreal and intense—we were out in the desert in the middle of nowhere, and all of a sudden, there’d be fire and bullets flying at us. It’s Mad Max, so it was definitely some gnarly shit we were doing.”

Zoe on her band Lolawolf:
“It’s always been something I do in my spare time when I’m not working on a film; it makes me feel happy and creative, and I don’t like being idle.”

Zoe recalls what parents Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet think of her music:
“At first, they were like, ‘Oh, what is this?’ Which is how everyone reacts to it. The music is kind of weird and different. It’s good when you can’t describe it right away or put a genre to it; it represents me well. Now my mom plays it in the house and my dad is super proud.”

Zoe on dating:
“I don’t have much of a type; the most important thing to me in a relationship is that they can make me laugh and I can make them laugh. Laughing is just the deepest, sexiest thing.”
