"BLACK FIST"
Grammy award winning producer, rapper, and activist David Banner will have the world talking with the reveal of his new video “Black Fist,” ft. Tito Lopez, which is off his soon to be released album The God Box (August 19). Premiered on REVOLT, the video is a visually compelling piece of art that is Banner’s statement against the injustice and atrocities that have happened with the senseless loss of African-American lives at the hands of the authorities as their families and the world watches the inequality within the justice system
“The intention of this visual is not to promote violence, but to show that we as a people will no longer accept the loss of innocent black lives,” states Banner at the opening of the piece. “The purpose of this message is not to target anyone, but instead, to value everyone. This video is a statement and a reminder that black lives won’t be ‘taken’ lightly.”
No stranger to sharing his opinions on the rights of African-Americans and hip-hop music, Banner has been a visible voice in the Trayvon Martin killing, marched in Ferguson regarding the Michael Brown murder, stood alongside Mississippi residents to have the Confederate battle emblem removed as the state flag and more. In addition, Banner has appeared in front of Congress testifying at a hearing about racism and misogyny in hip-hop lyrics, engaged students at Harvard University, Stanford University, Howard University, toured with Dr. Umar Johnson and Dr. Claude Anderson on the “Three Kings Triple-Lecture” as well as toured the country on his own “The God Box” lecture series selling out theaters and universities/colleges.
