What do Naomi Campbell, Gypsy Sport, Mel Ottenberg, Di$count Univer$e, Young Thug and some of the most talked about brands today have in common? They and countless others have joined us to put on a fashion show unlike any other. Hundreds of designers, models, stylists, photographers, makeup artists, and hair stylists — all from the VFILES platform — come together each season to create the most inspired show at NYFW. At VFILES Runway, fashion, music and pop culture are one and the same, which is why previous shows have included performances by Tyga, Unlocking the Truth, Sophie Beem, A-Trak, and Playboi Carti.
VFILES Runway is what happens when you pass the baton to the next generation of creators. It’s the embodiment of our philosophy: that by connecting creative on a platform that knows no barrier to entry, they can discover one another, collaborate, and determine the future of fashion.
Designers, stylists, photographers, models, makeup artists, and hair stylists upload their work to vfiles.com, enter their submissions to the runway competition, after which each entry is reviewed by VFILES. A shortlist of finalists are considered by the VFILES team and the VFILES Runway mentors and finally winners from around the world are flown to the fashion industry’s most important event — NYFW — to show their collections in the VFILES Runway show. Past mentors included Mel Ottenberg, Pat McGrath, Naomi Campbell, Virgil Abloh, Harold Kota, Candy Pratts Price, and Italo Zucchelli among others.
VFILES Runway has been consistently producing fashion industry stars for seven seasons. Season one’s Gypsy Sport won the CFDA award in 2015. Melitta Baumeister, Andrea Jiapei Li, and Feng Chen Wang have all been shortlisted for the LVMH Prize. Ottolinger was nominated for the Swiss Design Awards and went on to be creative consultants for Kanye West’s brand Yeezy.
Past winners have been worn by the world’s biggest influencers including Rihanna, Beyoncé, Kylie Jenner, M.I.A., Katy Perry, Gigi Hadid, Ciara, Rita Ora, Young Thug, Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj and Madonna. Leading retailers such as Selfridges, Harvey Nichols, Opening Ceremony, Dover Street Market, Colette, Urban Outfitters, Galeries Lafayette, stock the young brands that got their start on VFILES Runway.
