Elijah Fisher, a 13-year old basketball prodigy from
Toronto, received a special surprise today from Harlem Globetrotters' star Zeus
McClurkin at Crestwood Preparatory College in North York, ON. In the
video below, Zeus interrupted Elijah’s lunch period, traded dunks with him in
the gymnasium, and held an assembly about character education for Elijah’s
classmates. Elijah is the top North American player from the class of
2023, according to many scouts.
At 6-feet 8-inches, Zeus is in Toronto preparing for games
throughout Ontario and holds two Guinness World Records, including the most
dunks in a minute with 16. Elijah, who stands at 6-feet 6-inches, made
an attempt at that record with Zeus, but came up short. When Elijah told
him he would break the record some day, Zeus told him jokingly, “don’t wait
until I can’t dunk anymore. You need to break it tomorrow.”
Zeus commended Elijah for having a great attitude and work
ethic off the court, as described by his coaches and teachers. During his
visit, Zeus presented the Globetrotters’ C.H.E.E.R. for Character assembly for
Crestwood Prep’s 7th and 8th graders. The
program focuses on Cooperation, Healthy mind &
body, Effort, Enthusiasm, and Responsibility
– all areas where Elijah
excels.
The Globetrotters bring their “Amazing Feats of Basketball”
Canadian Tour to the GTA for five games, including Toronto’s Ricoh Coliseum
on April 13, Oshawa's Tribute Communities Centre on April 14, and
Mississauga's Hershey Centre on April 21. The full Canadian schedule
is available at
