“Mawga Dawg”
There’s
an old Jamaican proverb parents have shared with their children for
generations…
"Sorry fi mawga dawg, mawga dawg tun round bite yuh."
“You would do your best for someone and in return they repay you with evil,” explains five-time JUNO Award winner Exco Levi. “Unfortunately that proverb fable is as relevant today as it was hundreds of years ago. It's true in all cultures.
“Implications that ensue can be serious,” he continues, in a pensive mood. “The good guy in this case loses his job. Reminder of the past that is alive in the present.”

As
track nine on Exco’s most recent release, NARRATIVE, “Mawga
Dawg” further fuels the Jamaican-Canadian reggae maestro’s riveting
storytelling as song. Having written more than 150 songs across the expanse of
his career, NARRATIVEcomes on the heels of 2015’s wildly successful
and well received Country Man.
