On advice for new mom, Cardi B:

My advice to anybody, is not give advice to new moms—nobody likes it.

When I was pregnant and everybody was like, “This and that,” I’m like, “Please just stop telling me all these things. Can I just figure—I kinda do wanna figure it out on my own. I know I’m not gonna be perfect but let me just do my—“ everybody has so much advice for you.

I would not give her any advice. See if she needs anything—do you need water? Like, when we were doing the video, she was preggies and I was just like, “Are you good? Do you wanna sit down?”—that’s what they need! They need a little pampering. Take care of them. No advice.

On receiving the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award:

I haven’t been to the MTV awards in a long time. I am getting the video vanguard award this year. When they told me, I think I shed a tear.

You realize, I grew up in the era of MTV. That’s when I started doing music and I watched Tina Turner and Bruce Springsteen and Janet Jackson and Michael Jackson and Madonna and all these people who made all of these great videos and that was always my dream.

Then to be able to do it in the time I did with Britney and Christina and N’Sync and the Backstreet Boys, it was just such a great time in pop music and then you had the Latin explosion with Ricky Martin and Enrique Iglesias, and Marc Anthony, it was just such a great time and then now to be doing it still 20 years later and have a new song out and be getting this award that some of my heroes have gotten. I’m just honestly, it’s, I’m speechless and so excited and I’m putting together a great performance and I hope everybody’s going to love it. It’s super exciting.

My mom was with me when they told me. I was like “MOM” and she was like “I know!” She was very excited; we’re mushy like that though.
