SiR, born “Sir” Darryl Farris, showed an interest in music at a very young age and is just one of the many musicians in his family. Growing up in Inglewood, California, SiR has his roots in a gospel narrative. His mother, brothers, and cousin are all gospel singers - his mother even sang as a background singer for Tina Turner and Michael Jackson at one point. Eventually, SiR went on to study his musical craft more deeply and graduated with a degree in recording arts from Los Angeles Film School. Amidst a few mishaps, SiR eventually scored a break working for Tyrese Gibbons. It was there he met key connections and learned to really master his craft of songwriting.

SiR’s second album Chasing Summer, released August 2019, takes a darker turn and is a gauzy R&B collection full of bitterness and missed connections. Featuring the lead single "Hair Down," Chasing Summer has appearances by Kendrick Lamar, Lil Wayne, Jill Scott, Smino, Sabrina Claudio, Zacari, and Kadhja Bonet. Production is predominantly handled by TDE regulars Kal Banx, Taebeast, and Sounwave plus Boi-1da.
