CONVERSE X COMME DES GARÇONS CDG PLAY CHUCK TAYLOR

Marquis Mills Converse opened the Converse Rubber Shoe Company in Malden, Massachusetts in 1908 - originally producing footwear for men, women, and children they turned their focus in 1915 to specifically tennis and basketball shoes. Converse introduced their "All-Star" basketball model In 1917, shortly after a salesman joined the team promoting this specific model all around the United States. This salesman namesake, Charles H. Taylor, eventually became the nickname for Converse's All-Star model, better known as "Chuck Taylor" or simply put "Chucks."

Comme des Garçons was founded by Japanese designer Rei Kawakubo, and launched by Kawakubo in 1969, coming into global prominence in the ’80s with its dismantled, unconstructed approach to design.



The first ever Converse x Comme des Garçon project released in 2009, but became more readily available during the 2015 release. Combining the simplicity of Converse and the exuberant design aspects of Comme des Garçons to bring forth their long standing collaborative efforts on the cult classic Chuck Taylor All Star High and Low models. The eye-catching and now recognizable around the globe Heart logo was designed by New York-based graphic artist Filip Pagowski. 

Featuring striking colors and eclectic patterns across a classic durable 12 oz canvas upper. The printed graphics provide added style while the metal eyelets are accompanied by flat cotton laces. The rubberized toe box ensures classic Converse elements as well as the high rubber foxing and the vulcanized rubber sole unit.
