Murda Beatz talks to Travis Mills on Apple Music CA

Grammy award-winning producer, songwriter, and DJ Murda Beatz checks in with Travis Mills on Apple Music as he talks about wanting to shine a light on more Canadian artists, finishing work with Justin Bieber and his dreams of moving into the rock space and working with Slash and Steven Tyler one day.

Murda Beatz tells Apple Music about his favorite new artist and how he wants to shine a light on more Canadian artists...

"My favorite up and coming artist right now is probably Doobie from Canada. He's a kid from Toronto. He's fire. We're working right now. We've been sending them stuff back and forth. I still haven't done it fully, but I want to shine light on a lot of Canadian artists because there's so many good ... there's so much good talent in Toronto and Canada in general that doesn't get I feel like the proper spotlight and the proper shine. So I still feel like that's a code that I'm trying to crack myself.”

Murda Beatz tells Apple Music about his dream collaborations…

"I want to release some stuff with Bieber. I want to release some stuff with Beyonce and Rihanna. Me and Bieber kind of made some stuff here and there, but not really. But I've made stuff for everybody, I just got to lock it in.”

Murda Beatz tells Apple Music he wants to start making rock music...

"Yeah. So actually I grew up in Niagara falls, so an hour outside of Toronto, but yeah, I grew up with the rock background and the rock influence and I definitely see myself making some rock music. I've been venturing out. A year ago, a year and a half ago, I was making a lot of country music. I was in Nashville. Right now I'm in a big pop bag, I'm making a lot of pop music and stuff. I'm just trying to just keep it exciting and just ... you know what I'm saying? Being a chameleon and being able to maneuver and just make all types of music. I don't want you just to think of a rap record I made or like, "Oh, he can only make trap music." Because I came up as a trap producer, but now it's like I'm really evolving into a super producer and someone who can do everything."

Murda Beatz tells Apple Music on his dream collaborations in the rock space...

"I wanna work with Slash. I wanna work with Steven Tyler.. a lot of people.”

“Me and Kid Robot collaborated on the Baby Murda.This was originally a drawing for a halloween shirt a couple years ago. We decided to bring it to life and make it like a toy [..] We got more special announcements coming soon. ”

Murda Beatz tells Apple Music about releasing new music from the 2016 era...

“I have a lot of old music that i really want to drop soon. It’s crazy records I made four years ago and I play them today I still feel like they’re up to par or even better than a lot of stuff released today. The 2016 era was a special time for music and I want to release a lot of that music nowadays and share it with the people.”
