Following on from the momentum of their previous release “Took It Too Far”, Toronto based duo $VN (pronounced “Seven”) return with “Need You” - a dark slice of moody R&B.

Blurring the lines between modern-day rap and contemporary R&B, “Need You” is inspired by how the sharp change in weather can cause a sudden shift in emotions - yearning for brighter days. Made up of nyXsun and SAGS, the pair take the listener on a cinematic journey through their flawless, glossy production - the pair’s lyrical prowess creating a cathartic experience for their fans.

Having produced and engineered the majority of their songs, the duo immerse themselves in the creative process, getting every detail right before releasing to their dedicated fanbase. 

“The process began with SAGS sending over the skeleton beat, and I immediately fell in love with its somber tone because of its slow tempo, sound selection and dark vibes”,  nyXsun explains. “The first verse and chorus came together as I began to reminisce on one particular heartbreak that could’ve been ‘the one’. SAGS wanted to reinforce that idea with his verse and also wanted to hone in on the sonic aspects of the song to make it hit home with listeners.”

$VN began releasing self-produced singles in 2018 and have been revered for their contrasting yet complementary vocal styles. With 10 singles already under their belts, their genre-infusing music has charted on SoundCloud’s “New and Hot Canadian R&B”, aired on major Canadian radio stations such as Toronto’s Hip-Hop Flow 93.5, and been featured on popular Spotify and Audiomack playlists. Alongside their musical endeavors, they're working on building their brand and collective, MØD. 

For 2020, $VN are focused on crafting a rich soundscape, and “Need You” is indication of their astute musical talent.
