IVYTIDE BREEZE THROUGH SUMMER WITH “call it what u want”

Furthering their infectious style of indie pop, Montreal trio Ivytide release their newest single “call it what u want,” available today across streaming platforms. The release is accompanied by the announcement of their forthcoming EP softy, set for release September 1.

The indie summer bop blends singer-songwriter elements like acoustic guitar, with heavier punk rock drums and picked bass. The upbeat verses and chorus encapsulate the excitement of a new relationship, while the bridge embodies the instability that comes with it.

On the single, the band shares:

"We’re excited about the release of “call it what u want” because we feel it shows a different side of our music. It’s more upbeat, summery and hype than our previous songs, so we’re looking forward to seeing the kind of reception we’ll get from our fans. The theme of the song comes from the stress of putting a label on a relationship that started as something casual. The lyrics “call it what u want” are a direct response to when hot boy/girl summer gets too serious."

“call it what u want” follows their recent single “miss u btw” – the quintessential summer slow jam. The self-produced track effortlessly blends singer-songwriter elements in the verses with heavily distorted bass and hard-hitting drums in the chorus.

Hailing from Montreal, Canada; Ivytide's founding members Nathan Gagné (vocals/guitar), Jamie Snytte (guitar) and Kyle Ruggiero (bass) met at a recording studio, where they developed a dynamic chemistry in their songwriting. A mutual love for lo-fi indie music led to the production of bedroom pop songs with intricate and catchy melodies, which float on top of well thought-out unique instrumentation.
