IDK AND KAYTRANADA LINK FOR DYNAMIC NEW SINGLE “TACO”

In a new and unexpected collaboration, Maryland rap auteur and entrepreneur IDK links with acclaimed Grammy-winning producer Kaytranada for “Taco" on Clue/Warner Records. Laced with verbal machismo and jazz piano, the intoxicating rhythm finds IDK unloading a barrage of quick-fire flexes declaring rap supremacy. His charismatic bravado and innate style are reflected in the stark music video.

TACO- A casing- composed of a metal material that contains explosive materials, primers, bullets; a common form of ammunition used as a defensive weapon. TACO used in a sentence: “You better duck them tacos when the switches let off.”

Coasting over a wavy electric Kaytranada production, IDK incorporates street slang to tell a dark tale about street life and fires off insults with a combination of raw force and comedy: “Y’all niggas is pussy, ain’t no debating it/Ain’t no complaining or faking it, I’m a dick and you taking it.” Lighthearted but emphatic, dynamic yet retro, “Taco” is evidence of IDK and Kaytranada working at peak efficiency. The juxtaposition of the lyrics and production compliment the black-and-white video that carries the energy forward, finding IDK rocking high style in low-key surroundings.

“Taco” is IDK’s first release following USEE4YOURSELF, the artist’s sonically sprawling sophomore album. It received praise from NPR, Rolling Stone, Office, The Real, and more. Coated in philosophical musings and lyrical dynamism, it was exactly the sort of project fans had come to expect from the DMV rapper, who also led a music business course by the name of No Label Academy at Harvard University that same summer. The course was designed to give BIPOC students instruction on how to operate in the music industry, a goal that reflects IDK’s underlying mission to educate as much as he entertains. With the bold “Taco," partnerships with Nike and Credit Karma, and more new music on the horizon, IDK is making his mark in the music and fashion industry on his own terms.
