ALYSSA REID RETURNS WITH INTOXICATING SUMMER TRACK "WHEN IT HURTS"

JUNO nominated, multi-platinum selling pop artist Alyssa Reid steps into summer with the release of her sizzling new single "When It Hurts" via Wax Records. The intoxicating track, co-written by Reid with Mike Wise (Alessia Cara, bülow, ViiV), and Jamie Appleby (Alessia Cara, bülow, Noelle, ViiV) boasts the bold confidence Reid has displayed since making her return to the spotlight in 2021.

“'When It Hurts' is a fun, tongue in cheek song about continuously falling for the wrong people and being a little self sabotaging in relationships," Reid shares. "It was so fun to write because it’s filled with so much sarcasm and irony. I’m not exactly known for writing ‘happy' songs, but this one definitely brings me joy, despite being about my romantic misfortune."

Born in Edmonton, AB and raised in Brampton, ON, Alyssa Reid rose to the international spotlight in 2011 with her #1 debut single “Alone Again” featuring P. Reign, which has sold over a million copies around the world. Since then, Reid has gone 3x Platinum, 3x Gold, 1x Silver, received three Top 10 hits and seven Top 20 hits at Canadian pop radio, toured internationally, and garnered over 100 million streams on her music. Also a seasoned and sought after songwriter, who has penned hit songs for artists like Virginia to Vegas, Bulow, and Alessia Cara, Reid's co-writes have seen over 500 million streams to date.

"When It Hurts" follows Reid's reemergence after going on hiatus and secretly releasing tracks under the pseudonym ASHS. Embracing her darker side with an honesty and passion like never before, Reid was able to boldly indulge in her own creativity with the project had no face. She unveiled her identify with the release of the ASHS album, which brought fans a new, authentic side of Reid that embodies the alter-ego she created.
