James Marriott ‘Grapes’

With over 4 million followers across socials,James Marriott should need no introduction. While he is known for his funny content online, music was always the intention. Only launched his independent music career in 2020 with debut single ‘Slow Down’, the Brighton based multidisciplinary creative has developed  a significant fan base since. With influences such as Two Door Cinema Club, Sam Fender and The Strokes, his new EP ‘Bitter Tongues’ with focus single ‘Grapes’, is sure to top his already impressive streaming numbers.

‘Grapes’ is the retrospective recounting of a man who continually gets the timing wrong in his relationship. It’s a fictional reflection of how life can be led astray and sometimes slip away, only for you to realise when it’s too late. The upbeat indie guitar feel to the track juxtaposes the melancholic storyline with class, making it James’ most ambitious outing to date and a classic in the making!

“Grapes is the culmination of my want to write about the dichotomy of love and timing. A fragile man and a strong woman are childhood loves, but neither of them have lived their lives and become adults yet.”

The ‘Bitter Tongues’ EP takes James’ music career up another level. It is different to what came before musically, but also metaphorically in the sense that it’s largely about all forms of relationships within his life as he struggles to maintain relationships with age. “Where Has Everyone Gone?” James asks himself.
