 Polaris Music Prize winner Cadence Weapon drops new Connor McDavid 2024 Stanley Cup Version music video to pump up the Edmonton Oilers and all Canadians

Polaris Music Prize-winning rapper Cadence Weapon releases a new music video for the "Connor McDavid - 2024 Stanley Cup Version" single to honor the superstar hockey player and his Edmonton Oilers squad as they aim to bring the Stanley Cup back home to Canada for the first time in 31 years. Born and bred in Edmonton, Cadence Weapon, who now lives in Hamilton, knew he had to take the trek back home to capture the energy and passion of his fellow Edmontonians, as they root for their hometown squad. “I did an online call out for fans who wanted to be in the video to meet me at the Bob and Doug McKenzie Statue near Rogers Place,” explains the former Poet Laureate of Edmonton. “And they really showed up and delivered!” While the video was mostly shot just outside the Moss Pit where Oilers fans congregate to watch games outside of the Rogers Place, the clip also features all kinds of landmarks and people that figure prominently both in his life and with many Edmonton natives, including the Alberta Legislature Grounds (with The Garden sculpture that features one of his poems); The Black Dog venue; the Wayne Gretzky statue; and the Rollie Miles Athletic Field which is named after Cadence Weapon’s grandfather. Directed by Lyle Bell, the video also features cameos of notable Oilers fans including Superfan Magoo, Mama Stanley, and his mom and sister. 

It's been a great start to the first half of 2024 for Cadence Weapon as this new Connor McDavid remix single and video comes on the heels of the release of his critically-acclaimed album Rollercoaster, which earned rave reviews from a wide range of North American media outlets, while addressing the contradictions of modern technology with both precision and irreverence.
