Saweetie Secrets Revealed on The Spout Podcast: New Music, TV Projects, and a Beauty Line—Plus A Possible International Move and More!
Rapper Saweetie returned for her second appearance on the latest episode of The Spout Podcast with host Nick Major. During her interview, she dives into a variety of fun topics, including her new single and video for "Is It The Way" and her upcoming debut album. Saweetie also teases exciting ventures beyond music, sharing insights about a new TV project and her upcoming beauty line. Plus, she reveals her favorite school subjects, downtime activities, and must-have travel essentials.
Saweetie's new track "Is It The Way" serves as a powerful anthem for individuality. She explains, “I just feel like it's a great record for a woman to embrace their individuality. When we shot the video in London, the women who I picked were hand-chosen by me, and what I wanted to show was the beauty and uniqueness of women from different races and backgrounds. That’s something that I want women to take away from when they listen to this song--embracing their individuality and their uniqueness”
The music video for "Is It The Way," directed by Tajana Tokyo, is a testament to Saweetie’s vision. She shares with The Spout Podcast, “She really just executed what I had in my mind. It was her idea, but she had the vision that I had for this song. It was like we were so aligned, and when I got her treatment, I was like, that’s the girl I want to shoot the video.”
In a candid moment, Saweetie reveals her desire for a change of scenery, expressing, “I want to move soon... I don’t want to jinx it, but just know that I plan on moving really, really soon.” Though she remains tight-lipped about her future destination, her affection for London shines through, stating, “I just love working with the creatives in London. It’s just a different energy out there. I feel like I move different and I think different when I'm overseas. So, um, I could definitely see myself relocating somewhere internationally."
The rapper also teased fans with a glimpse of her upcoming TV project, noting, “I’m in a TV show. I can’t say what it is because the NDA is crazy, but I’m in a show that’s coming out next year. I would say it’s very similar to my previous acting roles, and that’s all I’m gonna say before my fans decode it.”
Adding to her growing list of endeavors, Saweetie is also developing a beauty line, emphasizing the importance of building her legacy. “It’s a specific beauty line, but I don’t want to say what product I’m working on yet. I feel like with every artist, we should work on building our own company instead of giving our likeness away to all these other companies. I think it’s imperative that we focus on our legacy, and I feel like beauty is going to be a big part of mine.”
