JP SAXE HOSTING LA WILDFIRE BENEFIT IN NYC
Today, GRAMMY-Nominated singer songwriter JP Saxe has announced NY FOR LA, a benefit show he has organized to raise relief funds for those affected by the devastation of the Los Angeles wildfires, taking place Wednesday January 22nd at Bowery Ballroom. All funds raised will be donated to Mutual Aid LA. Tickets can be purchased HERE.
JP had initially intended on organizing a New York release show for his upcoming single “Safe” due out next week. However, given both having been a long-time LA resident and the nature of a song about making each other feel protected, he felt compelled to help his community in any way he could. He explains further:
this was gonna be a single release show but it’s a benefit show now. wtf is the point of a song about the way I wanna make the people I love feel safe if we don’t actually do some shit. so wednesday night at bowery ballroom. all proceeds going to LA Mutual Aid. I’ll play you new songs, maybe some friends pull up (if you want to be involved in any way, in person or otherwise, please hit me), we’ll raise a bunch of money and show some NY love to our LA family.
The benefit will feature performances by JP and friends as a way to come together in support of our west coast loved ones all the way from the east coast. Tickets can be purchased HERE. If you are unable to make it or would like to further donate, that can be done HERE.
About JP Saxe
The Toronto-born, L.A.-based multi-platinum singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist JP Saxe has mastered the art of not holding back. His words spill out in a way that feels raw and frank, while subtly shaping that highly detailed stream of consciousness into something that resonates universally. His music performs a similar trick, displaying the signs of prodigious talent but going down easy — a mix of hi-fi bedroom pop, piano balladry, breezy soul, and conversational R&B that shifts to meet every emotion. All of which explains how he quietly became a pop phenom, amassing over 3 billion streams and spending much of 2024 criss-crossing four continents via his sold-out headlining tour and (before that) opening for close collaborator John Mayer. Saxe’s slow-burn rise began with 2019’s unfortunately prescient “If the World Was Ending.” The intimate, Finneas-produced Julia Michaels duet became what Apple Music called “the pre-eminent love song of the pandemic,” earning 4X Platinum status, a Song of the Year GRAMMY® nod in 2021, and a Breakthrough Artist of the Year JUNO for Saxe. He quickly followed with his debut album, the playfully but accurately titled Dangerous Levels of Introspection, featuring acclaimed singles with Maren Morris and Mayer. The latter returned for 2023’s A Grey Area, a sophomore set that found Saxe honing his highly expressive sound and heart-on-sleeve meets tongue-in-cheek approach, not to mention continuing a striking run of TV performances. Last year, he released A Grey Area (Live Sessions) and Live on Stage — love letters to the fans who pack every room he plays. In 2025, Saxe rewards us all with new music.

About Mutual Aid LA
As a mutual aid network, our primary goal is to use our reach and funds to support smaller, local mutual aid efforts across the city who are doing direct, on-the-ground work. MALAN has very small operating costs, so the vast majority of donations go directly to funding those small, local efforts such as the ones you can see us boost on our Instagram or in our Group Directory who are already plugged in and providing survival supplies and essential services to their neighborhoods. We also purchase survival supplies such as water, food, masks, hygiene supplies, and other essentials and distribute those directly to people across LA as well.
