LEDISI IGNITES THE 2025 BET AWARDS WITH POWERFUL PERFORMANCE OF “BLKWMN”
Grammy Award-winning artist Ledisi delivered a show-stopping moment at the 2025 BET Awards, performing her viral single “BLKWMN” following a powerful introduction p nmby filmmaker and mogul Tyler Perry.
“I wanted to be here today to introduce this next song because when I heard it, it’s an homage to to every black woman and every strong black woman, every black woman who’s vulnerable, every black woman who’s weak, every black woman who’s powerful — this song spoke to me.”
Accompanied by Aneesa Al-Musawwir, Terri Lynn Carrington, and Lynette Hammondgal Williams, the soul-stirring anthem brought the crowd to its feet and cemented Ledisi’s performance as one of the most talked-about highlights of the evening.
“BLKWMN,” co-written and co-produced by Ledisi and Jacques “JOC” Pierre, is a rousing celebration of Black women's strength, beauty, and brilliance. The song has gained viral momentum since its release and is featured in Tyler Perry’s new film STRAW, starring Taraji P. Henson, adding even greater cultural resonance to its message.
