Roc Nation A&R Omar Grant lends services to Dreamworks soundtrack HOME

Introducing Roc Nation A&R, Omar Grant:
Lending his A&R services to DreamWorks for the soundtrack of their 2015 animated film “Home”, starring Rihanna as well as Jennifer Lopez; both of whom delivered the first two singles, Omar Grant is quickly becoming the music industry’s go-to asset when creating a formula for success. Currently, serving as A&R on Rihanna’s highly anticipated 8th studio album, Grant is a well-travelled and well-connected music executive.
His first official job right out of college was as Assistant Tour Manager to Destiny's Child, where he was afforded the opportunity to experience and travel much of the globe. Born and raised in the Bronx, and a graduate of Adelphi University, where he earned his Bachelor Degree in Business Marketing—Omar's desire to get in the music industry started early on.
Although Omar earned his stripes through the rigors of being on the road, his real passion was in discovering new music, new songwriter-producers and the A&R process. After accompanying Destiny's Child as a collective and eventually becoming Tour Manager for Kelly Rowland, Michelle Williams and Beyoncé as individuals—Omar's next goal was to realize his aspirations in the A&R arena. Spending lots of time in the studio with Music World recording artists and bringing up and coming producers such as "Static" to Music World's Management division, Omar was named A&R/Talent Scout for the organization.

During the winter of 2006, he was hired on by Big Jon Platt, Executive VP of EMI Music Publishing as Director, Creative Urban based in New York City. Omar was directly responsible for a host of songwriters and producers contracted under EMI. His first signings included Solange Knowles (sister to Beyoncé, who had a number of placements on the multi-Platinum B-Day album), a producer-songwriter out of Miami by the name of "Street Runner" (Terror Squad, Lil Wayne) and signing the producer of 50 Cent hit single "I Get Money" Apex.

Leaving EMI to pursue making records, Omar went on to A&R Kelly Rowland's album "Here I am", that featured the hit Single "Motivation" which went #1 for eight weeks on the Urban Hip Hop Charts. The album also had the hit record "Lay It On Me" featuring Big Sean. The album was Rowland's highest selling album to date.

Joining Roc Nation’s team in 2011, Omar also was the A&R on Rihanna's latest album "Unapologetic" The album was Rihanna's first #1 debut album. The album has so far featured the hit singles "Diamonds", "Pour it Up" "What Now" and "Stay".

Omar Grant has also successfully signed producer DJ Mustard, which is responsible for a magnitude of hits including “2 on”, “Don’t Tell Em”, and “Rack City” just to name a few.  During the summer of 2014, Mustards album “10 Summers” was the most downloaded album of Google Play.  In addition to signing DJ Mustard and A&R his album, Omar served as A&R for the Kyle Minogue album entitled “Kiss Me Once”.  “Kiss Me Once” landed at number 3 on the US Dance/Electronic chart and number 1 on the Australian charts.

Amongst the exceptional talent Omar has procured, he recently assisted in the acquirement of Emeli Sande for management representation.
