Fashion on Yonge Takes to the Elgin for Fall 2017

Downtown Yonge marks half a decade of fabulous fall fashion with the 5th Annual Fashion on Yonge, which will strut down the runway at the Elgin Theatre on Thursday, August 24, 2017.

Presented by Downtown Yonge Business Improvement Area (DYBIA), the much-anticipated event features more than 300 outfits in three runway shows chosen from some of the 150 apparel and accessories retailers in the neighbourhood.

During the evening, guests will be treated to a sneak peek of designs from emerging designers from the Toronto Film School and Ryerson University's Fashion Zone program.

“Retail fashion represents just over a third of the retail businesses in our neighbourhood and Fashion on Yonge helps showcase fall trends available in our stores,” says DYBIA Chief Operating Officer Mark Garner.

“Guests will be able to sample food from local restaurants, indulge in mini beauty treatments, win prizes and see inside the beautiful Elgin Theatre, a venue that not everyone has a chance to visit but should!”

 To commemorate the five-year anniversary of Fashion on Yonge, DYBIA is giving away five prizes of $100 each to the fashionistas who share the best style photos Facebook, Instagram and Twitter using the hashtag #FashionOnYonge.

Tickets to each runway show are on sale for $5 each, with 100% of proceeds going to Covenant House Toronto, Canada’s largest shelter for homeless youth.

“Downtown Yonge BIA is strongly committed to working with local partners to help marginalized and at-risk youth in our neighbourhood,” Garner adds.

“We couldn’t be prouder to be working with Covenant House and to offer support to the good work they are doing here in our community.”

The 5th Annual Fashion on Yonge takes place on Thursday August 24, 2017 at the Elgin Theatre, 189 Yonge Street. Space is limited for the runway shows and tickets are required for entry and for each runway show. The event begins at 5:00 p.m. with food samples, cocktails and on-site model styling followed by runway shows at 6:00, 7:00 and 8:00 p.m.
