YOUNG XAV's Final Album, Dead By Dawn
The Chicago native known professionally as YOUNG XAV is releasing an album, "Dead By Dawn" -- available on all music platforms Friday, October 1st.
If XAV's debut album, After Dark, was a representation of the nightlife and all the vices that come with it -- then Dead By Dawn is the hangover the morning after. What better way to kick off the next installment in his journey as an artist than "Mess I've Made". Serving as the lead single for the sophomore album, "Mess I've Made" is most certainly the cover letter of everything that is Dead By Dawn. It is cemented with immense guilt, introspection, and "the want to be better". With an alternative melodic approach, hard-hitting kicks, and a featured verse from New York's very own Edwrds -- this record can easily hold its own in all listener settings.
To understand the musical world-building that XAV establishes through his storytelling, in both audio and visual format, one must go back and see where the story all began. "Too Gone" (released in 2019) was XAV's first major single. Accompanied by his first music video, it served as the first entry point in a long interconnected narrative throughout his work. The relationship in this record carries into an all 60's inspired EP titled Empty Flask & Heartbreak, followed by "Hurt For This" - a short film where XAV not only created the project's soundtrack, but also wrote, starred in, and produced. Now, nearly 2 years later, XAV returns with "Too Gone, Pt. 2" to close it all up.
